Speaker Bio:
陳嘉恩 Shelby Kar-yan Chan (PhD SOAS) is Associate Professor and Associate Dean of School of Translation and Foreign Languages at the Hang Seng University of Hong Kong. She is author of Identity and Theatre Translation in Hong Kong (Springer, 2015). Her research interests include Chinese-language theatres, the translational turn in contemporary Chinese art, interpreting, as well as postcolonial studies. She has translated four plays from English to Cantonese for stage performances in Hong Kong. She is co-editor of the multilingual anthologies of the International Poetry Nights Hong Kong. She is also a practising editor, translator and interpreter in arts, legal and commercial sectors. Currently she is translating Gao Xingjian’s monograph on drama into English.
